That was the last time he was a patient here at Methodist, and I cannot say enough how thankful I am for all the nurses who provided such wonderful care to him while he was a patient here, especially Monalisa.
Over the last couple of years, my grandfather has been in and out of the hospital at Methodist. He suffered from Alzheimer's disease, and the past year or so was especially difficult for him. He had undergone an emergency procedure. After being in the ICU for a short while, he was transferred to 4 North. I am a nurse on 5 North, so while on my break, when he was one floor below me, I went to check in on him. What I found when I arrived at the doorway of his room was a nurse who was very patiently, kindly, and intently listening to my grandpa speak. Not only did she unquestionably care about what he had to say, she also took the time to inquire about his life, his family, and what he loved most. His nurse that night was Monalisa Khan. Monalisa was initially unaware that I was standing there simply observing a conversation play out between someone I love so very much and a fellow nurse here at Methodist. She took the time to show an incredible amount of kindness and compassion to my grandpa when no one was looking, and that's when - in most cases - it matters most.

My Grandpa has since passed away. That was the last time he was a patient here at Methodist, and I cannot say enough how thankful I am for all the nurses who provided such wonderful care to him while he was a patient here, especially Monalisa.
