Monica works daily to make a meaningful difference in the care of all her patients, but one recent patient in particular stood out to me. We had an individual diagnosed with a chronic neurological condition who had limited support in the USA and wanted to relocate overseas to be with family. Although Monica had never dealt with this, she did not just give up on the patient and worked with him to make his goal a reality. She assisted him in researching what medications and medical equipment would be available in that country, made education packets for him to share with his new care providers, and worked with local support agencies to send him a shipping container full of donated medical equipment that he may need in the future and could bring with him. Instead of telling this patient that she didn't know or that it wouldn't work outside of our healthcare system, Monica worked with this patient where he was to achieve the most important goal to him in his healthcare diagnosis journey.
