May 2025 Honoree
Monica Boada-Cordova, RN, MSN
I arrived at the hospital in active labor and was wheeled in by a security guard while having painful contractions. As I got wheeled in, Monica was walking out of the cafeteria, food in hand from her lunch break. She saw me, and without hesitation, ditched her lunch in a trash can and ran into the elevator with me. She immediately stated cheerfully, coaching me, saying, "You're having a baby today!" And she never left my side until our baby was born.
She rushed me into triage, checked my dilation (I was fully dilated), and then stayed with me until I was laboring and pushing. Alongside my husband and doula, Monica stayed right at my head, coaching me through each contraction to push, and she was so encouraging and empowering the whole time. I am so grateful that she intercepted me in the elevator!

Thank you, Monica, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
