Monica is a full time nurse home visitor with the Nurse Family Partnership program in Middlesex County. Working for an evidence based program like NFP, Monica fully appreciates the importance of delivering research supported information in her teaching with first time mothers. Often times this information is contrary to what these young mothers have been told by friends and family, but Monica is able to deliver this information in a compassionate, non- judgmental way. The mothers not only apply this information in the care of their children but often share it with others. Although, many of her clients are single mothers, Monica works very hard at including those people important to the client, especially the fathers of the babies, in her visits and plan of care. Monica understands the value of these individuals in the life of her clients and their babies. Often, when Monica enrolls her younger clients into the program they have strained personal relationships. Monica helps educate her younger clients in how to communicate and resolve conflict more effectively with their partners and parents. Monica's care and compassion is evident by her high retention rate in a voluntary program serving a highly challenging population.
