Monica was a safe person who allowed her comfort. Monica went above and beyond to aid in protecting my grandma’s dignity and privacy in such a time of vulnerability.
I’m submitting this at the request of my grandma. My grandma has always been an independent and hard-working person. Up until the stroke that led to her admission, she was still working her full-time job and was completely independent. It was a struggle for her to find her new way of living and having to depend on others for help. Monica was a safe person who allowed her comfort. Monica went above and beyond to aid in protecting my grandma’s dignity and privacy in such a time of vulnerability. Following my weekend visit, my grandma took the extra effort to text me to ensure I submitted this nomination for Monica; she was just that impacted! Thank you so much for all of the kindness and wonderful care you gave my grandma!

I would like to nominate and recognize Monica Clifton because she absolutely has a healer’s touch and remains an amazing role model –especially to the less experienced staff that often works night shift. Monica is an incredible nurse who has worked at the UW for many years. Even after so many years, she arrives early to every shift and meticulously reviews the important information about her patients. This attention to detail allows Monica to best empathize with her patients, think critically, and problem-solve when needed. Her experience and commitment to her patients make her an amazing resource for other nurses working the night shift. Monica is able to offer her expertise while still being approachable and compassionate. I believe this is the definition of a nurse leader. Patients often express how grateful they are for her quality care. Monica's patients are certainly lucky to have such a caring nurse. As one of her coworkers, I feel lucky that Monica has chosen 7NE to carry on her career.
