While visiting my dad in the hospital, I was able to meet the sweetest nurse I had ever encountered. My dad has many health issues and has been in the hospital multiple times within the past few months. The past few times, our stay has not been so pleasant. I felt the care was not where it used to be, but this time was different. My dad’s nurse's name was Monica she walked into the room with a smile, and that smile never left her face. I know she was busy and had other patients, but she took the time to talk to me and listen to my dad. She treated my dad like a human and even made sure I had the things I needed. She was a ray of sunshine right when we needed her the most. Dad bragged about his care from Monica to everyone who would listen. She restored his faith in Anderson Hospital and reassured him that there are good nurses out there. I want everyone at Anderson to know that Monica is a jewel, and she deserves a DAISY Award for her wonderful care. I can’t begin to thank her for what she has done for my day in the short amount of time she cared for him. I hope that more nurses can learn from Monica and bring back the sunshine to the cloudy world of nursing.
