Our day began with me telling the nurses that I'd be the easiest patient on their shift that day. At shift change, Monica comes in my room and it's weird. It was like a demon was in the room making everything bad happen that could happen. My tubes (in my nose) leaking, IV beeping, etc., etc. It was crazy. At about 8:30 am I said, "Monica, how's your day going?" She said, with a laugh, I don't know, this is the only room I've been in. Her response made me smile which began a whole day of smiles.
I had been depressed about my illness, tired of being sick and ready to give it up. Monica, by her actions, made my attitude change. By the evening I was in the best of moods and so happy to be in such good care.
All day long was special - by her words and actions. Monica made it better, a kind word, a smile, conversation, she has it all. And not just with me. I saw her buzzing around the unit doing the same to all the patients under her. From the special chair, she had set up in the hallway, my "private" café where I could watch the picturesque scenery and the cars rolling by.
Every one of her patients received the same generous loving care that day from a wonderful nurse.
You know some people just make your day better. She is that person!
A fine lady, an excellent nurse.
She made my day!
Thank you, Monica!
You are special!
