Monica Hunt, BSN, RN

Monica was my brother’s nurse for only a day or two of his 23-day stay at Evergreen, but her care for him left a lasting impression on me and our family. She was compassionate and kind and seemed to genuinely want to be not only at work but with us as we navigated a terribly difficult situation. She took the time to ask my brother about the future and gave him the encouragement he needed to believe he could get well again, something I had not seen in him in years. She performed her job well, but I felt she went above and beyond for him, reminding him he is human and a person outside of simply being a patient. We had many, many nurses throughout our stay, but Monica is the standout by a mile. Although my brother passed away, I can look back and see how the care he received impacted the end of his life, and I am moved to tears just thinking about those who went above and beyond their duties. Monica did just that. I appreciated her so very much and was so grateful she was part of our journey. Thank you, Monica!
