Monica demonstrated teamwork by assisting a co-worker who was caring for a serious patient. The patient had a severe nosebleed which required continuous suctioning to keep her airway clear. The physician placed rhino rockets bilaterally but the bleeding continued. Lab work showed a critically low platelet count and required transfer to a higher level of care and a transfusion of platelets prior to transfer. Monica helped the nurse get the orders placed in the electronic record, transfuse the platelets, and prepared the patient for transfer just because she answered a call asking if she had the tubing to infuse platelets.
