She is a true asset to our unit and our patients are better for having her level of care available to them.
When you think about the culture and values that a company like UPMC has you have to think about the heartbeat of the institution. We know we find that in our patient population but behind them stands so many people. Those who collectively make a difference in the lives of our patients but also in the lives of the employees. Monica places patient care as the highest priority, however, she also knows that to keep it as the highest priority it will take the highest quality skill set paired with a great employee experience to get there. Monica has trained many new employees and helped shaped their skills and set them on a path that carries out UPMC’s vision for nursing care.

Monica is exceptional in her care for our patient population, anticipating needs before they arise. She understands policies and procedures and follows them and implements them so effortlessly that they never get in the way of patient care or employee training. She has the ability to “hide the strings” if you will, meaning she truly had the ability to exemplify the “art” of nursing. She is a true asset to our unit and our patients are better for having her level of care available to them.

Monica serves as an example of hard work, dedication, and commitment to the UPMC mission, to serve our community by providing outstanding patient care and to shape tomorrow's health system through clinical and technological innovation, research, and education. As I said in addition to our patients, our employees are the heartbeat to the organization. Monica sets the standards and expectations that will keep that heartbeat alive as she delivers paramount nursing care while shaping new employees to pass the torch to carry on the mission that we all have which is to enrich the lives of our patients and our communities.
