Monica always goes above and beyond to care for her patients, and this is just one example of her doing so.
In mid-July, we had a patient come in with her two children. They were brought in with the Detroit Police Department due to concerns about the psychiatric needs of the mother. After working with the patient, it was determined there were a lot of social concerns, including the trafficking of mom and kids, if not a worse situation. These two young kids had been in the department for several days, and Monica Parga went above and beyond to do what she could to make them feel as comfortable as possible. These kids only speak Spanish. Monica arrived early for her shift by 2 hours to come in and help communicate with the kids. She took them in her working assignment each shift and was here to ensure they could communicate with their nurse. She also brought in clothing, toys, and let them watch TV. She ordered them food through Uber Eats, all on her own, to make them as comfortable as possible.
Monica always goes above and beyond to care for her patients, and this is just one example of her doing so. She thinks nothing of doing these things for patients and never expects any reimbursement or shouting out of her actions. She truly is the definition of caring.
This is Monica's 2nd DAISY Award!
