Nurse Monica Saunders Nomination
We were under Monica's care while at Shriner's for several days. We went to Philly so that my daughter could have spine surgery, we live in Florida. So, there were many times that Monica was as patient and caring as if my daughter were her own. There was one day in particular that my daughter was having a rough day, in a lot of pain, nausea, vomiting, just really awful, and Monica literally was running her fanny off for us! Either it was more pain meds or helping me move Em into a more comfortable position, or just talking to Em to calm her down and comfort her. Monica was great. Em did not want to eat because she was sick to her stomach and Monica came in with a popsicle for her, no one asked for it she just thought that Em would enjoy that, and she did! She was always very patient with us, as a parent when your child has had major spine surgery, times can be very stressful and it was. I was exhausted physically and emotionally and I knew that if Monica was going to be our nurse then I knew that I could relax a bit because anything we needed, Monica would take care of it. It was a comfort knowing that my daughter was in great hands. I do hope that I was able to express to your our level of care that we received while Monica was our nurse.
Respectfully,
Betty Jo Olsen
