She is an absolute Rockstar and I knew as long as she was around, my sister would be well cared for.
My sister was treated by this nurse when she was in the ED overflow/ same day surgery department. She was an angel from the moment we met her. She immediately responded to our needs. Even though it was very difficult to get an I.V. into my sister (side note- this is totally normal- we have really bad veins), she pushed through it, and she and her colleague helped and even made it super fun! We were naming the vials of blood they took, and we were giving pep talks to the veins. I could tell my sister was having a hard time, but they made her as comfortable as possible and made a bad situation a memorably positive one.
After my sister was moved to another floor and admitted to the hospital, this nurse was also moved to that floor but was no longer assigned to my sister. My sister was assigned to another nurse who was busy with other things. My sister became very frustrated because her respiratory treatment was 4 hours late, her antibiotic was late, she hadn’t had lunch brought to her, and she had been waiting several hours to get confirmation about whether or not she could take her regular prescription medications. My sister started to cry, so I went to the nurse’s station and found this nurse sitting there. She asked if I needed anything and even though she wasn’t assigned my sister, she immediately jumped into action and solved all of our problems within 10-20 minutes.
She is an absolute Rockstar and I knew as long as she was around, my sister would be well cared for. This hospital is so lucky to have her. She is also extremely personable. I left the hospital for a bit to do an interview and when I came back she showed interest and asked me how it went. She is the definition of “above and beyond the call of duty."
