My daughter was in pain and sick. She had been like that for 12 days with little change. Monique came on shift and kept asking how I was. She made sure that I was strong for my little girl. Then we started the IVIG. She had to wake us up repeatedly throughout the night. It was a very horrible night for me and my daughter. We were tired of everything, grumpy and things were not pleasant. But she walked us through the night with kind words and persistence. Monique was able to talk my uncooperative daughter into taking bad tasting meds and to be still for mere testing. She was able to talk me, a sleep deprived, very upset momma, into strength so I could be strong for my little girl. By helping me rein my resolve and refocus she helped my daughter through the night. Monique was great because she realized I was just as important to my daughter’s recovery as the medicine and treatments.
