Montana was wonderful to say the least, and we appreciated her selfless service to help improve the health of not only my husband but the patient in the bed next to my husband.
My hubby is a diabetic and his Blood sugars were getting high because of the sliding scale the hospital uses and as soon as Montana realized my hubby usually took much more insulin to keep his blood sugars at good levels, she informed the doctor, they adjusted the sliding scale (to match how he uses at home) and got an order for him to be covered at night. He was able to get his blood sugars down consistently over the next 24 hours, as well as get uninterrupted sleep since his sugars were better and he didn’t need monitoring so frequently.
She worked with us, listened to my husband who knows his body better than anyone, collaborated with the doctor, and made the necessary adjustments. Perfect team player! Also, her bedside manner towards the angry patient in the bed next to my hubby was impressive. He was very short with her, and quite mean, but she maintained a professional disposition and had an amazing attitude despite taking a lot of heat from this patient. I’m certain she was ready to fall apart emotionally, as she exited our room biting her lip, but she held it together instead.
Montana was wonderful to say the least, and we appreciated her selfless service to help improve the health of not only my husband but the patient in the bed next to my husband. She is easily deserving of the DAISY Award and certainly went above and beyond to help both very busy patients, all of this on her third day in a row, when she was probably completely exhausted. If there is anyone the DAISY Award was meant for, it’s Montana Lucky.
Thank you for being the best nurse we could’ve asked for. We are new to Arizona. It was our first time at Banner Baywood, and you left quite the impression on us. If we ever need to return (hopefully not) you can bet we are coming to Banner Baywood for nurses like Montana.
Montana was supposed to be off the next 3 days but ended up picking up someone else’s shift (her fourth day in a row)! She came to check in on us despite not working on our unit that day. For an industry that has been battered emotionally and psychologically over the past year with Covid, Montana is the type of nurse that every hospital in America would benefit from having on their staff. She goes above and beyond, she has the human element, gets the bigger picture, she was patient while training a future staffer from U of A administering a Heparin shot for the first time to my husband and couldn’t have been more professional in the face of adversity. Thank you for hiring her and allowing her to be part of our first experience at Banner Baywood. We truly felt blessed and lucky to have her careful watch during our hospital stay.
