Morgan is one of the most compassionate nurses in the SICU. She is always willing to go above and beyond for each of her patients and families, and even other people's patients. She's taken patients outside to experience fresh air, which is invaluable to them especially with some of the long-term patients we have in our PCU.
Morgan has, on multiple occasions, followed policies to ensure her patients are best cared for. She makes sure the responsibility doesn't fall onto other people. There have been multiple occasions where she's changed out beds with broken scales to ensure the patients are being weighed daily and accurately. Her extreme attention to her patients won her the first annual SICU Employee of the Quarter 2017.
Morgan has tremendous respect for her peers and her peers have tremendous amounts of respect for her. For her first 6 months, she was spending two days in PCU and one day in the SICU. She consistently picked last due to her respect for the nurses with more experience than her even knowing the last pick was usually the last pick for a reason. She did this without ever complaining or losing her smile.
Morgan is the epitome of teamwork. Even in the busy PCU, she will consistently help her coworkers while being able to get her own work done. While coming in early for a meeting before her shift she volunteered to help out in PCU before her shift to make sure her coworkers weren't falling too far behind. I had an experience while being in a patient room, my patient asked for a blanket and while walking out of my room Morgan was returning with blankets for my patient. Her teamwork does not go unnoticed as she was voted as SICU Superstar of the Month by her peers.
While Morgan is a new nurse on the unit she has the attitude to lead her coworkers. New and more experienced nurses see her unflinching positivity, even in the face of great adversity, and follow her lead. She has increased the morale of the unit singlehandedly.
Morgan has not only consistently had the attitude, integrity, and compassion to be a fantastic addition to our unit she also has the skills to match. Morgan consistently goes above and beyond for her patients even catching the attention of management; in fact, the SICU Employee of the Quarter award was designed and implemented with her in mind. Winning employee of the quarter and winning the superstar of the month in her first year of working is absolutely incredible.
I've been working with Morgan in busy situations and she is always making sure she has the correct and right amount of supplies. Many nurses will continually go grab new supplies but Morgan makes sure her supplies are used before going to get new ones. By making sure her patients are well taken care of she's displaying great examples of stewardship.
