My daughters were patients in the NICU. I first remember meeting Morgan on the worst day of my life. She made a tragic and heartbreaking night bright and peaceful. One of our twin girls became very sick a few days after birth. When we received the worst news possible, that our daughter may not survive an upcoming surgery, Morgan was right by our sides with a comforting hand on our shoulders. She called a chaplain to pray with us as requested, but she also went above and beyond and called around to several Catholic churches per our wishes until she found a priest able to make the trip to the hospital at 2 a.m. to baptize our daughter.
She could have given up when nobody answered at the first church, but she pressed on and found someone. Because of her persistence, a priest was able to baptize our daughter before she passed away. This gave us great peace that will stay with us for a lifetime. We can't ever thank her enough for making this possible.
Morgan is both an outstanding nurse and strong leader. She made rounds fun and laughter filled. She always provided support and ideas of ways I could be involved with our daughter when she was just a couple of pounds. When babies are that small there is not much a parent can do to help, but Morgan came up with great suggestions for us to feel involved. Her warm smile and ability to grieve with us is not something that can be taught but instead, comes from her heart. We'll always remember Morgan and the important role she played in our family's NICU adventure. Thanks Morgan!
