Morgan was nominated for the DAISY Award because she is always ready and willing to help. All of the RNs on the floor know we can count on her.
Morgan was assigned to a particularly sick and complex patient. It had been a while since the patient had gotten to go outside and was depressed about being in one room for such a long time. As opposed to pushing off the patient's request due to the patient's disease process, Morgan gathered all the drips, pumps, tubes, and machines and helped the patient get outside to feel the breeze and see the sun. This is just one example of Morgan's character and desire to do more than just her job.
Another example is when we had a young, sick patient that had been hard on all of us to care for. When Morgan had this patient, she showed extreme compassion and care with him and his family. She advocated for his dog to come to visit, worked to pull together a small party for his birthday on the unit, and even worked with other care team members to get him outside for a few minutes. She doesn't hesitate to do what is best for her patients and always shows compassion with the most difficult cases.
