She tailored her to-do list to fit our patient and displayed amazing teamwork when we were two different units needing to work together.
My patient was on the schedule for a bedside procedure. The patient was complex and fragile as most of the patients are on our unit. The minute Morgan arrived at the bedside she was very clear about what she needed to get done in order for her department to run smoothly in our unit but always kept the patient as the priority. She was not afraid to say that this patient was not what she saw daily and asked questions to ensure the patient remained safe.
An example: this particular patient was one of our smaller infants that had issues regulating temperature. We needed to open the isolette in order to prepare the patient for this procedure and sure enough, we began having issues maintaining an appropriate temperature. She helped place a chemical mattress beneath the infant while she prepped her area. We were told the chemical mattress then needed to be removed before the procedure began. Morgan helped me apply heel warmers around the patient until the Doctor was at the bedside and ready to begin the procedure. This is just one example of how she put the patient first during this encounter.
She tailored her to-do list to fit our patient and displayed amazing teamwork when we were two different units needing to work together. Before leaving the unit with her team she ensured there was nothing more she could do to help the patient now that her job was done. I knew that this nurse needed to be recognized from the moment she arrived at the bedside.
