"Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers (sisters), that you do unto me." These words are familiar to many, however, so seldom are these words of Christ put into action. One simple gesture has the ability to make the strongest of impressions on your patients who are receiving care throughout their hospital stay, whether it be short or extended in length. With Morgan, it was not just her radiating smile or her calm demeanor that quieted the anxious moments when breathing did not come easy and the fear of facing dialysis became ever so real. It was not just the extra time she took to explain every procedure and review each new medication. It was not just the thoughtful way she straightened the crumpled sheets and made sure I was tucked in and warm. It was not just the mindfulness of asking one more time before she left the room, "is there anything else you need?" The simple act that demonstrated the greatest level of compassion was her noticing the dry, parched lips of an old woman struggling to take her next breath. She noticed and she acted. Morgan provided a mouth swab, cool and refreshing. Morgan made a huge difference with a small act of kindness. One does not learn to be compassionate. One does not learn how to care. One does not learn to love. These are gifts. These are intentional. Well done, Morgan, you have "done unto Him."

Thank you, Morgan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
