Morgan's upbeat personality and amazing ability to teach others would highlight my night from 7 pm on.
OMG! That is what the young ones say nowadays, and it is exactly how you can describe my nurse, Morgan. She is the epitome of whom every patient wants to be assigned to when they find themselves admitted to the hospital. Morgan would take over my care at 7 pm day two of my hospitalization.
From the moment of introduction during the nurse handoff, I knew I had hit the jackpot with the nurse assignment. Morgan's upbeat personality and amazing ability to teach others would highlight my night from 7 pm on. Tasked with having a student nurse with the overnight, you should have seen her ability to teach. She would explain every last step she took with my care to the student emphasizing how important it was to listen to the patients as the patients know themselves better than anyone. She also would try to instill in the new nurse how important it was to spend that little extra time with the patient to get to know them and care for them.
Morgan and I would have a wonderful night -- the best I have had in the 2 1/2 years I have had cancer and been trying to fight its spread. Well, that we failed with as I now have METS to the bone. Having nurses like Morgan who bring with her optimism and kindness, is just the best I could have ever hoped for. There is a reason Morgan is a nurse here at Mayo Clinic. She is the staple of the nurse pool. The best of the best. Mayo Clinic Hospital is #1 in the country, and they have only hired nurses like Morgan who also are #1 in their field. Morgan is #1 and so much more!
