Morgan made a difference in R's stay in ICU and we both appreciate all the care and concerns that she demonstrated!
When R was in the ICU with Covid pneumonia, I typically called in before I went to bed for an update on R. His nurse, Morgan gave me such a thorough report on R. As I laid on my couch listening to her, I couldn't help but smile at everything I was hearing. Being a nurse of 30 plus years and having worked with many nurses, I have heard a lot of reports given. She obviously did not know I was in healthcare as she explained the difference from high-flow oxygen to regular oxygen that R was receiving. She also let me know the labs he would be getting in the morning and what they would tell me. When I asked her questions, she either had the answers or looked them up in the computer. She was so pleasant on the phone and then I found out she had been a nurse for just 5 months and thought, "Wow... she's a keeper. She has the ability to talk to families and make them feel comfortable. I was impressed!"
Then I came in the next morning and before I even asked R, he started talking about the nurse he had last night and how great she was. R said she was engaged, committed, and very pleasant to talk to. She made him feel better about his situation and more relaxed (as relaxed as you can be in the ICU). Her confidence and attention to detail made his comfort level go up. Since he was getting nauseated, she suggested he take Zofran before this other medication to help, and it worked well. She straightened up his room and bedside table which he appreciated. R describes her as an "angel in a nurse's uniform." She wasn't even scheduled the next night and they had just asked her to pick up the next night and she told me when she went into R's room, he asked her if she was working the next night and she said, "I thought if he wants me to work again tomorrow, I'd better just do it." We both loved Morgan and I haven't even met her yet. Morgan made a difference in R's stay in ICU and we both appreciate all the care and concerns that she demonstrated!
