Without being asked, without hesitation, Morgan stepped in. She sat with her. She held her hand. She made sure that the patient did not leave this world alone.
It is hard to put into words what Morgan means to our unit, our patients, and the families we serve, but she is nursing at its purest form. Morgan is an incredible cardiac stepdown nurse and an outstanding PCC. She fiercely advocates for her team, ensuring they feel supported, heard, and protected. She leads with strength, but it is her heart that truly sets her apart.

Recently, we cared for a patient who was actively dying and had no family at the bedside. No loved ones to hold her hand. No one to whisper comfort in her final moments. Without being asked, without hesitation, Morgan stepped in. She sat with her. She held her hand. She made sure that the patient did not leave this world alone. In those sacred, quiet moments, Morgan gave her something priceless- dignity, compassion, and human connection. She reminded all of us of what it truly means to be a nurse.

Her compassion does not stop when a life ends. After multiple recent losses in our unit,  Morgan organized a fundraiser so we could send flowers to three grieving families. She rallied 3 North together, and every donation was a reflection of the culture she helps create, one of empathy, unity, and love. Because of her, those families were reminded that their loved ones mattered deeply to us.

Morgan doesn’t just care for patients. She honors them. She uplifts her team. She carries the emotional weight of this profession with grace and selflessness. She is the nurse every patient deserves in their most vulnerable moments. She is the leader every team hopes for. And she is the very definition of a DAISY nurse. The day she sat with that patient and held her hand as she took her final breath, she didn’t do it for recognition. She did it because leaving someone alone in their last moments was simply not an option in her heart. That is who she is.

Morgan carries the emotional weight of this job quietly and selflessly. She celebrates with families, grieves with them, and then somehow finds the strength to show up again the next day for the next patient who needs her. She has helped shape the culture of 3 North into one where compassion is not just encouraged — it is lived. Healthcare is better because she chose this path, and our unit is better because she walks it with us!
