The loss of a loved one is never easy. The loss of a child is especially difficult. I would like to nominate four nurses who went above and beyond to help a patient and the family cope with the loss of a child. The patient's family had a celebration of life ceremony at their home for their baby. These nurses took the time out of their schedules and busy lives to attend this ceremony. They were the only attendees besides immediate family. I can only imagine how much comfort this gave to the mother of the baby.
Our first instinct when something of this nature occurs is to remove ourselves from the pain of the situation. These nurses faced their pain, dug down deep and were empathic to the needs of the young mother and her family.
