I was in the hospital for five days with an infection. I haven't been in the hospital much, so of course, I wasn't sure of what to expect. Every single person I encountered was so kind and helpful.
Thelma was consistently caring and personable. Before leaving the room, she always asked if there was anything else she could do for me and anything I needed. When I wasn't feeling like eating and wasn't going to order any, she gave me the whole list of reasons why I needed to eat, what food would be best to help with healing, and why. Thelma is so knowledgeable and caring, engaging, kind, and funny, too. Nursing is her passion, and it truly shows. Thelma is the Gold Standard for nursing. Thelma also made sure that my wound was well cared for and had a strict protocol that she followed to keep from reinfecting.
Naffie is following right along in Thelma's footsteps, making sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. Like Thelma, she was cheerful and often made me laugh. I laughed a lot with Thelma and Naffie.
Maddie was here when I first came in, and she was compassionate and caring. Even though getting the IV in was difficult for everyone, she searched for someone she thought could get it in and he did. She didn't want me to get a bunch of pokes and wanted to make sure the person she brought in could do it.
Also, all of the nursing and support staff and those taking blood have all been so thoughtful and kind. Megan was another of my nurses, and again, she made sure to make me comfortable and offered little tips to help me get better. Buuk, who was my support staff for some of my stay, was so gentle and kind, knowledgeable, and diligent about checking my wound. The ladies that took my blood were gentle, and even though my veins aren't the best, they were careful to inflict as little pain as possible. I want to mention Mary too, who faithfully cleaned my room every day and was so pleasant and easy to talk to.
