January 2026 Honoree
Muharema Mustic, BSN, RN
Muharema Mustic went above and beyond during my time recovering after sorry!
She was waiting with the biggest smile in my room when I returned from the operating room. She instantly put me at ease by asking, "What can I get you to make you comfortable?" She promptly returned with water, toast, and meds. I mentioned I was very cold, and she quickly put aside her work and found me warm blankets. I was emotional because the surgery had not gone as planned, and I had found out another surgery was in my near future. She tried to comfort me by asking about my children and then shared the sweetest story about her niece and the letter she wrote to the Ninja Turtles.
Muharema, please know you were the ray of sunshine I needed after surgery! Your ability to put me at ease with warmth and compassion was a difference maker. You made me feel like I was your only priority, which I know you likely had many others you were giving the exact same care.
Thanks for all you did for me! I can only hope we cross paths in a couple of weeks when I return for surgery two.

I was extremely anxious before my knee replacement surgery. Muharema's knowledge about my procedure and answers to questions not only lessened my anxiety, but also that of my spouse and daughter. She brought a cheery, positive attitude into my prep room. When she entered the room, it was like a warm hug for all of us. In addition, she had several more encounters with my family during the PM, inquiring about my progress.

Muharema was my nurse while I was at Sanford for my nose surgery. I appreciated her sincere, compassionate care throughout the time I was there.
Muharema was very knowledgeable and kept us well informed of everything going on. She was very professional and even though I know she had many other patients to care for, she made me feel like my comfort and care was her top priority.
She has a very warm/friendly personality and a good sense of humor.
Thank you, Nurse Muharema!
