We had a 60 year old gentleman who collapsed at home. We received this patient after a lengthy code. Sadly a few days after admission, this patient was declared brain dead and the brave decision to donate organs was made by his wife of many years. Understandably so….she was heart broken. Mya Carter was so very kind to this patient’s wife. She gave her an EKG strip that has his heart rhythm on it which she deeply appreciated. She asked Mya if there was any way she could have some paint applied to his hand print to frame and keep as a reminder of her husband. Mya tried to find supplies here at the hospital without any luck. So Mya had washable paint delivered here to her at her own expense and her and the patient’s wife were able to put his handprints on paper for her to keep forever. She was so touched by Mya's kindness. We are so blessed to have Mya working with us. She is kind and wise beyond her years. Mya used different color paints when she did the handprints. She used red for Christmas, blue for Easter, etc and made a book as well. She named it the handprint book for the Holidays.

Thank you, Mya, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
