Na Zhao, RN
Na was an immense breath of fresh, warm, nurturing, attentive, safe, genuine, and loving care that a lot of times seems to be lacking these days.
As someone who unfortunately spends a fair amount of time in these facilities, I deal with all kinds of caretaking and nursing. It’s already physically and mentally so hard and draining. So you don’t realize the effect the care you receive can have on your condition as well until well...you do!
With Na caring for me, I certainly noticed. And I Flourished.
She never made me feel rushed, never made me feel like I was exaggerating my pain or condition, and never tried to dumb down what I was enduring. She took extra time to get to know me, to be able to care for me better. I never had to repeat things about myself because she remembered. She remembered because she listens, and she actually does care. She gave valuable tips and advice for things I can do at home to keep improving and strengthening.
I could literally go on and on. I felt so safe and cared for. It was my first time ever in the hospital in 42 years that I didn’t feel like I needed my momma there with me the whole time. And that’s because I had Na as my nurse... no, angel.
