Nadine Smith's patient arrived from PACU, and within 10 minutes of the patient being on our floor, she accessed the patient for stroke-like symptoms. She called our 5W NP and MSET immediately. A code stroke level 1 was called, a clot was identified, and the patient was flown to a tertiary hospital for treatment. Her critical thinking and quick actions not only helped the patient but reassured the family.
