My husband and I admire her so much and we are impressed with her professionalism that has the right amount of humanity and tender care that makes any worried parent feel heard and supported in such an unknown environment that is the NICU
Nakishia has been nominated for multiple DAISY Awards over the last year but had not yet been selected. This is what makes this DAISY presentation more special as her remarkable care reached our hospital’s senior leadership and our system nurse executive who felt it was time that she was recognized for her outstanding care, commitment, and compassion that she shows to our patients and families in the NICU. The following are some excerpts from the nominations that she has received over the last year and demonstrate why she deserves this esteemed DIASY honor: “This nurse is AWESOME! She has a great personality, is bubbly, and is always happy! We laughed and joked the whole time making the experience so much calmer and smoother! She has been honest with us when needed and kept things positive in some of the most stressful times. She was the best nurse we had the whole time.” “She goes out of her way to make sure both the parents and their families are cared for. She always includes us in the care of our child, making us feel so much more confident as we prepare for discharge. She has the extraordinary gift of making families feel at home, at ease, and connected. She cares for her patients as if they were her own family and that is something that is beyond valuable in the NICU environment.” “I personally witnessed this nurse being treated rudely and very badly by another mom, but this nurse never lost her temper and always did her best. My husband and I admire her so much and we are impressed with her professionalism that has the right amount of humanity and tender care that makes any worried parent feel heard and supported in such an unknown environment that is the NICU.” This nurse has had the most DAISY nominations of anyone in the NICU and we are so excited it is finally her time to be the DAISY Honoree.
