Namtran is one of the most hard-working and dedicated nurses on my unit. She is always working behind the scenes to increase patient safety, staff satisfaction, and is a proactive leader. She volunteered to take the role of relief charge nurse when our unit had no full-time charge and no volunteers. Whenever she is charge nurse, she is a positive and fair leader. Because she is dedicated to providing patient-centered care, Namtran assigns patients to herself to relieve the patient load of other nurses. This helps me spend more time with my patients and give them better care. In addition, she has taken up the task of working to create a better matrix so that our unit will have safer staffing. This involves attending various meetings outside of work, crunching numbers at home, and creating spreadsheets. Namtran has continued to work on this project for months despite the fact that she is taking pay cuts to do so, working full time and completing her BSN on the side. Namtran continues to inspire me to be a better nurse by how passionate she is in everything she does. She is a valuable asset to our team and an encouragement to every patient she works with.
