Nancy regularly found effective ways to teach me, the patient, self-care skills for transitioning home with new physical limitations. She effectively communicated with the doctors, always getting any requests in med changes answered promptly - respecting the difficulty in pain managements with patients rehabbing multiple physical difficulties.

Nancy regularly went above and beyond to successfully provide the best care possible to all her patients. She is great at "tough love". When it was necessary but it was always balanced by some inspirational joke or a pep talk. Nancy also balances the boundaries of "nurse and fellow human being" very effectively. When you spend day after day stuck on the unit, it's easy to feel isolated - leading to depression - which affects your process of healing. She learned about my son's Autism and development issues - helping make his visit to KNAPP last Sunday a total success. Nancy helped me psychologically in countless ways and in part because of her positive yet firm approach to healing, I met all my 3 rehab goals over a week earlier than originally anticipated. Nancy is a true nurse. She cares about her patients. She balances professionalism with an unusually funny and gentle bedside manner.
