March 2018 Honoree
nancy caramela, BSN, RN-BC
Nancy is an unsung hero who has been an employee of SPUH for over thirty years. She has a calm demeanor, even during the most hectic day. She remains calm and has a calming effect on everyone around her. Her patients describe her as compassionate and caring and call her "The Pretty Nurse" when they forget her name. She is an excellent preceptor and mentor and often serves as an interim charge nurse in the absence of the clinical coordinators.
Nancy recently encountered a life-changing experience when her son became ill and needed a kidney transplant. Her motherly instinct took over and she requested a leave of absence to donate her kidney. As a recent BSN graduate, Nancy was unable to attend our nursing graduation ceremony. The transplant was a success and she returned to work with the same passion and dedication. She is truly an asset to Saint Peter's.

Thank you, Nancy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
