January 2014 Honoree
nancy cupps, RNC
I would like to commend Nancy Cupps (Supervisor on duty) for the exceptional support she provided to the family of my daughter Katie during an extremely anxious and stressful experience. My daughter was 29 weeks pregnant and developed a sudden and severe case of eclampsia. While the medical team was caring for Katie, Nancy was compassionately caring for her shocked and overwhelmed family. Nancy made sure the family received frequent updates regarding procedures and the plan of care for Katie. When my grandson was born by emergency C-section, Nancy understood the gravity of the entire situation and also how important it would be for us to see the baby. Nancy requested that the Neonatal staff involved in transporting my grandson from the delivery room to the NICU, stop and allow us to see him. We were able to take some pictures. It meant a lot for us to be able to see him so soon and without Nancy's urging, we probably would have not been able to do so. Nancy came to visit Katie in her hospital room and enjoyed seeing how well she was doing just a few days later. The care Katie received at Magee was wonderful and we could have not asked for a better outcome. I never forgot the compassion and thoughtfulness displayed by Nancy and I am unable to describe the degree of gratitude I feel for all she did for us that night.
Thank you, Nancy, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
