Nancy G. Thompson, BSN, PCCN, RN

The word EXTRAORDINARY definitely defines who Nancy is as a nurse. I have collaborated with Nancy on multiple occasions while caring for my patients and she exhibits outstanding characteristics as a nurse. One outstanding characteristic is that she is very intuitive to the needs of her patients and their families. Her intuitiveness gives me a sense of security that she really understands the situation for the patient and I feel very confident in obtaining her input for assisting me with managing my patients, especially during end of life care. Her intuitiveness was exhibited today when she went above and beyond in trying to ensure that the patient would be alive, while maintaining the patient's comfort, so the son of the patient (who was traveling from another state), could be at his father's side before he passed away. This is just one example of how she goes above and beyond when caring for her patients. If I was to describe Nancy in a few words, it would be that she is a ROCK STAR. She exemplifies whom novice nurses should emulate.
