Nancy Garner is the prime example of a DAISY Nurse. I can recall the first time meeting her in the years before I became a hospice nurse. As a young and new LVN, she made nursing and the idea of hospice so comforting to me. Watching her as she cared for our most vulnerable patients contributed so greatly to my role today as a hospice case manager. W

hen Nancy precepted me at the beginning of my career, her patience and guidance gave me the confidence that nursing and hospice were for me. The energy that Nancy exudes encompasses what all nurses should be providing. This nurse demonstrates values that reflect the nature of hospice. She is understanding, kind, and so caring when it comes to our patients and their loved ones. Nancy is an amazing role model and I am so honored to be able to work with her.
