When my husband was an ICU patient at Little Company of Mary Hospital, Nancy became our link to his status, his care, and to our keeping well-informed. I had many 3 AM chats with Nancy, who was never rushed and who was always patient and compassionate as my husband's complex situation worsened and became ever so confusing. His ultimate demise was softened by Nancy's gentle and professional manner, as well as her clarification of why things were happening. I only wish that anyone experiencing a frightening situation with a loved one could have the benefit of a kind, compassionate and professional nurse like Nancy Heaney with them to guide their way on that journey.
