Nancy is recognized constantly by her fellow nurses, charge nurses, techs, and other members of the team for encouraging them and seeking out opportunities to help.
Nancy embodies all of the values of Parkland’s CIRCLES on a daily basis. During patient rounds, she is frequently recognized for her compassionate care and for taking the time to sit and listen to their concerns. On one occasion in particular, this RN worked closely with a patient who was suspected of being a trafficking victim. She went above and beyond to support this young patient, speaking with detectives, social workers, CPS, case managers, etc. Although this particular case was extremely challenging, she provided compassionate care to the patient during her stay and was a fantastic patient advocate.
On another occasion, early in the pandemic, Nancy had gone to the TCU to care for a very challenging OB patient. After her 2 nights assigned with the patient, she volunteered to go back a third night in a row since it would make the patient more comfortable to see a familiar face. This RN started performing dedicated charge nurse responsibilities prior to the beginning of the pandemic and has excelled- showing compassion, kindness and fairness to her peers and patients despite rapid amounts of change. She is recognized by her peers for the great work she does as a charge nurse. She has used her own personal health challenges to encourage and empower patients and peers that are going through similar challenges. She always participates in celebrations for her peers, collections when others are struggling, and goes above and beyond to spread kindness and compassion.
Nancy is recognized constantly by her fellow nurses, charge nurses, techs, and other members of the team for encouraging them and seeking out opportunities to help. This RN truly provides exceptional care to her patients, her colleagues, and the community.
