I was moved from the 6th floor to telemetry because of blood loss and my heartbeat was fast. The first night was horrible in every way. The next morning, Nancy came bouncing in with a great big smile. She comforted me and spent an hour organizing my 6 antibiotics/meds that were on a pump. She also educated me on everything. She kept on top of my pain making sure every 2 hours it was under control. She always came in before I even asked. If I did call her, she was pleasant and fast. Nancy stayed until 11 pm that day knowing she worked the next day. She came in the next day with a few hours in between and with just as big of a smile.
Nancy was compassionate and always answered questions and took time to listen to me. She never made me feel like I was a bother. These things, all in one nurse, are a joy to experience. My twin daughters graduate nursing school next month. I pray they take care of their patients the same way Nancy does. We (patients) appreciate all nurses and understand you are overworked, but Nancy never let anything show. She kept me positive and laughing.
