I found myself still in the hospital after a surgery that occurred three days prior that normally has a 24-hour recovery time. I was feeling pretty bad, mentally and physically. Things changed when Nancy walked into the room. I could feel the T.L.C. and knew that I would be receiving the excellent care with her as my nurse. She was easy to speak with, very kind, soft-spoken, compassionate, and empathetic. Speaking with her reminded me of times spent with my mother as a child when she nursed me back to health with plenty of O.J. and chicken noodle soup. She is a great listener and an effective communicator that chooses the right words to say in a very thoughtful way. We talked a little about recovery times and the healing process. She mentioned things that I should follow up with my doctor about and reminded me that everyone's recovery time is not always the same and made a reference to the flu. Which brought things into perspective and made things a little bit easier to understand. I enjoyed speaking with her and having her as my nurse during my stay. I looked forward to the next time Nancy would check in on me and really felt that she cared about me, my wellbeing, and recovery. By the end of her shift, I felt mentally and physically well.
