Nancy was amazing while she took care of me during my GI procedure. The whole department and staff work together and do a great job, but Nancy stood out. I was nervous about my procedure and was laying on a cart in the holding area waiting to go in the back for my procedure. Nancy walked up to me with a smile on her face and introduced herself. Her calm aura and demeanor immediately put me at ease. I felt a sense of comfort from her. She spoke in a gentle manner which perpetuated the calming effect she had on me. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything that I would experience. She let me know that she was specifically there to give me sedation and ensure that I was comfortable during the procedure. This was very reassuring to me. During the procedure, I was lightly sedated and comfortable but I remember Nancy talking to me and making sure I was comfortable. I do not think she will ever know how she made me feel or the impact she had. I was very anxious about my test and it made all the difference to have a nurse that truly cared about me and wanted to make sure I was at ease. She may do this job every day, but she should know that her kind, gentle, and caring personality makes all the difference for patients, and it is very welcomed. The VA has acquired some amazing nurses that care for us and make a difference, especially in the GI department! I want Nancy to know that her actions did not go unnoticed and were appreciated. We are truly blessed to have her here. Nancy, keep up the good work. You make a difference every day!
