On night shift, families and other staff aren't always around to see/appreciate the work that's put in throughout the night to keep their loved ones safe and sound. Nancy always goes above and beyond when it comes to her patients. One case sticks out to me in particular. We had an older gentleman who was not doing well throughout the night and was confused. His family had gone home for the night and he needed this oxygen to stay alive but was constantly ripping his oxygen off of his face. Instead of getting frustrated or restraining this man, Nancy pulled up a chair, put on some music he said he enjoyed, and sat at his bedside singing and talking with him all night until he fell asleep. This is just a small insight into all she does every night for her patients. She is constantly setting exceptional examples for new nurses such as myself to what nursing is all about. She is a prime example of all that The DAISY Award stands for.
