Recently, my husband and I were visiting in Richmond, Virginia, from Dothan, Alabama. On the night before we were to return home, my husband fell in our hotel room and broke his hip requiring surgery. Needless to say, this was not how we planned to end our vacation. We suddenly found ourselves 700 miles from home and admitted to a hospital where we did not know a single person. It was under these circumstances that we encountered Nancy. It was immediately obvious that Nancy was not only an exceptional nurse but an exceptional person.

Nancy was so compassionate and caring. Clearly, Nancy knows how important it is that her patients and their family members timely receive the best quality care. Nancy truly became my security blanket as he recovered from his injury/surgery. She was not only there providing the best quality care for him; she even assisted me with the details necessitated by our circumstances. For instance, she helped me with such details as retrieving luggage from the hotel and dealing with the rental car company. Nancy is truly a compassionate, understanding and caring nurse who exemplifies the ideals of her profession.

I will always gratefully remember all that Nancy did to coordinate our discharge and trip back to Alabama. Nancy truly went that extra mile in helping ease my concerns about Leslie's discharge and our transition home in Alabama. Nancy made a very difficult situation so much better.
