After I woke up from gallbladder removal surgery, Nurse Nancy made it her top priority to address my chronic pain that was out of control after the surgery. I have had many operations in the past, but never have I had a nurse pay such close attention to the fact that my pain was not under control and that I was suffering. Nancy was by my side for at least two hours trying hard to get my pain under control.
In 1995 I was diagnosed with RA and OA, and it's severe. Eventually I developed fibromyalgia, and never was this more clear than when I had a tattoo done in 2007, and then on May 15 after the surgery, Nancy did not let me suffer. Because I was pretty scared when I realized my pain was out of control, she soothed me. I felt safe in her hands; she was a godsend. She did not allow me to just lie there and suffer and I am so grateful for that.
I nominate Nancy for the DAISY Award because she did not allow me to suffer. And, she has no idea how grateful I truly am for her attention, her knowledge, and her skill. I'm so glad she was on duty on May 15th. Please thank her for me, she is a gem of a nurse. We need more like her in this world. Obviously, she truly believes in the Oath she took.
