Nancy brought in a sibling to the ED of one the patients she sees in hem/onc clinic for significant respiratory distress (required multiple life-saving meds and was admitted to PICU) because his mother was unable to. She stayed with him for 5+ hours in the ED and after he was admitted to PICU. She was extremely reassuring and patient with him and it was very obvious what a comfort her presence at his bedside was to him. I think if she had not brought him herself to the ED he would have died at home.
