Nancy Sorensen, RN

My (now) father-in-law is very ill. He and my mother-in-law have been together for over 13 years and have never married. My mother-in-law let me know it is my father-in-law’s wish to marry before he passes. He has also regretted them not marrying. Our nurse, Nancy Sorensen, facilitated a miracle. What she has done for her patient and his family is truly wonderful. I asked her if the hospital married people. She didn’t miss a beat. She said she hadn’t heard of it, but she would be willing to figure it out. Ha! She was able to find a way to waive the license waiting period, find an officiant, allow a small gathering of friends and family for a wedding in a hospital room, and even commission the help of the kitchen to provide a small reception! But wait! There’s more! Nurse Sorensen performed all of these feats while providing excellent, compassionate, and efficient nurse care to three (yes, three) of her patients AND monitor telemetry. She and her CNA were so amazing and truly represented the meaning of compassion, advocacy, professionalism, kindness, family, and empathy, and they even make great wedding planners!
