Nancy Thompson and Beckie Walters

DAISY Award Honorees, Beckie Walters and Nancy Thompson, were nominated by eight different patients. Nominations included numerous examples of how patients felt supported, encouraged and loved beyond belief. One patient stated that "these two women are the epitome of loving veteran mothers, of outstanding community members and most of all, of DAISY Nurses."

Both Nancy and Beckie have earned their IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) status and are continuously coordinating successful breastfeeding experiences here in our community. With the help of their colleagues, they initiate breastfeeding consultation after the mother delivers her baby here in the hospital and then follow up with those mothers on an as needed basis when they return home. Additionally they see mothers on an outpatient basis and work with the Gallatin Breastfeeding Coalition to help sponsor the Baby Bistro at the Bozeman Public Library. The care they provide to their patients "makes all the difference," as one mother put it.
