Nancy consistently goes above and beyond to support her team, patients, and parents. Nancy is a role model of leadership by living the mission in her everyday work.
In the past year, Nancy has mentored and coached me through the entirety of being a new nurse manager. She is very compassionate about making sure her legacy and qualities are passed down to new leaders. Throughout my time being mentored, I learned how to make the job fun. She taught me how to bring joy and enthusiasm to our ordinary tasks. I would consider her a regulatory “guru” as she taught me so much about what it takes to have a floor up to compliance with logs, clean sweeps, etc. Nancy is always considerate to new nurse managers. She has mentored others in the past year, and I know she gives each one of us her all. She is the true vision of the Glennon Factor; her stewardship, compassion, and determination to reach excellence outshines the rest. She makes our work environment feel like family by making sure we nurse managers take time to debrief and work together on our tasks.

Nancy consistently goes above and beyond to support her team, patients, and parents. Nancy is a role model of leadership by living the mission in her everyday work. Nancy frequently offers support to her peers by sharing insights from her wealth of experience and coaching and mentoring new leaders. She is willing to do anything asked of her and demonstrates a positive attitude, even in times of trouble. Nancy chooses to stay in house overnight in threats of bad weather to ensure she is available if her team should need her. She is consistent and exceptional and we are glad to have her on our team!

Nancy exemplifies everything staff should want in a leader. Nancy has an amazing ability to communicate even through difficult conversations. She always shows gratitude when a new idea or concept is brought forward and is always the first to try to adapt and provides feedback, both positive and negative, if the process will or will not work. When new ideas are proposed, she includes her staff at all levels, obtaining appropriate feedback and doesn’t just implement a process without deep thought and feedback which gains deep respect. Her unit is managed very well by her charge nurses, as she has been able to delegate effectively but always follows up if those tasks were not completed on time. I feel she is self-aware of her staff and knows who needs more coaching or training and follows up on that. She is very welcoming, not only to her unit, but to the hospital. My favorite trait is accountability. In a time when it is hard to hold staff accountable because they can leave and go anywhere, she does it. If there is a fallout on a standard that is seen on the back end of the software, multiple times she has asked that I let her know. The standards on her unit show by the stats and trends we see on her unit on the back end. When I ask if she needs a report, she usually has her own tracking mechanism. Her unit is always willing to take the next admission, even when they are nearly full, displaying her qualities and attitude as an effective leader.

Nancy has been a nurse manager for many years and it really shows. She exemplifies extraordinary behavior to her team, creates a trustworthy environment for her staff and has an open-door policy that encourages and invites staff to create that relationship with her as their leader. Personally, for me, Nancy has been an exceptional mentor. She has provided support and welcoming arms to me as I started in this role late last year. We had weekly meetings upon hire, and she continues to provide check-ins to make sure everything is going well with me and my unit. I can always count on Nancy to offer a helping hand, pass on her managerial knowledge, or listen when I have concerns or questions about work or life. I want to grow up to be like Nancy.
