My husband was admitted through the ED then to ICU for a mass on his brain which we found out later was a blood clot. Every single nurse was exceptional. They were all outstanding and caring. My husband was kind of an unusual patient for ICU because he was mainly there to be closely monitored. He had no pain and was perfectly normal most of the time. On Thursday night, I went home around 7:30 pm to shower and change. Shortly after I left, G had an episode of frustration and confusion. He became difficult and belligerent. He was calling me on my cell phone and also asking for me. Naomi was his nurse that night and kept me informed of what was happening. She was calm, supportive, and tried her absolute best to calm and help G. I ended up returning for the night. She had a lounge chair all made up for me by his bed. He began to calm down somewhat by then. That night and the next, she spent a lot of time with both G and I. Words cannot express how wonderful she was. She was extremely knowledgeable about his diabetes (new to us) and the issues from his blood clots. She answered all of our questions and gave us a calmness we greatly appreciated. Naomi is the perfect example of what a good, sincere nurse should be.
