March 2026 Honoree
Naomi S Rodriguez, RN, BSN
We had a patient who had been through several straight caths with difficult anatomy. This patient was now in need of a foley. The patient was in a fair amount of pain and did not want to endure further discomfort. Naomi went above and beyond by doing something so simple. She listened to her patient.
The patient simply requested to eat a hot lunch prior to attempting to place the foley. Naomi took it a step further and requested help from a fellow nurse who knew the patient well.
Foley placement went so smoothly and was done on the first attempt. The family was so incredibly grateful for not only respecting the patient’s wishes, as this was also one of the first times the patient wanted to eat, but also for making the process as painless as possible.
